Como Street, Takapuna
ODG have had a long association with PKF Ross Melville, and were delighted to be asked to work with them creating their dream office.
They came from an office that was utilitarian and dated, but with the move to a new building were given the opportunity to project an image that reflected their business values and approach. The 10th floor at the Takapuna Towers has magnificent 360º views, and it was imperative for the client that not only the Partners and clients have the pleasure of the outlook, but that the whole team would be able to enjoy the vista. The staff kitchen/lunchroom, being the social hub, was positioned where often the boardroom would have taken precedence. It also doubles as a funky casual meeting space suitable for visitors.
The colour palette is lively and interesting with Resene Gravel and Resene Kitsch in the reception area, Resene Funk in the meeting room, Resene Dancing Queen in offices, Resene Catalyst in the open plan and staff room areas complemented by general wall areas in Resene Black White.
One of the challenges faced was allowing visitors to see the view and feel the space as soon as they stepped from the lift, but at the same time, having three meeting rooms and security to the main working area. This was overcome not only through the use of glass, but by incorporating colours that reflected the surrounding area, such as the sea with its various moods, Lake Pupuke, the green belts and the Auckland City skyline.
Time was short with just eight weeks for this fitout from start to move-in. The paints – Resene Zylone Sheen, Resene SpaceCote Low Sheen and Resene Lustacryl semi-gloss waterborne enamel were all waterborne, a distinct advantage when many trades were trying to complete their work in a short time.
