In early 2010, a second renovation was undertaken, including a new interior design and fit-out for the formal areas of the home, and a new exterior colour scheme.

Previously painted in pale yellow with cream details and a blue roof, the client brief was to brighten and modernise the exterior, but to avoid a flat and plain appearing white effect.

The resulting exterior scheme seeks to bring a chic, classic and refined elegance to the home. The very subtle colour variation between the Resene Barely There weatherboards and the Resene Alabaster details in trims, window frames, balustrades and eave facings, offset by the Resene Nero front door, garage door, front veranda decking boards and spouting, and the roof painted in Resene Grey Friars, has created a fresh and stylish look, greatly enhancing the street appeal of the home.

In addition, the new colour scheme has highlighted and made eye-catching features of the very attractive architectural details of the house, including the dormer windows, front veranda and upstairs balconies.

The project was completed in two stages, with the interior work completed during the April to May 2010 period, and the exterior work completed by mid-June 2010.

Occupying such a prominent site on Orakei Road, the exterior transformation of the house has been highly visible. Since the completion of the project, the owners have received a surprising number of requests from passers-by for the paint brand and colour names. In their opinion, there can be no better validation of the exterior colour selections and design created for their home.
