Institute of Professional Legal Studies

The Institute of Professional Legal Studies is a post-graduate educational facility offering the Legal Professionals Course to develop effective junior practitioners ready to meet the standards expected of them when they enter the workplace. As a teaching organisation with a need for a corporate image, their wish list had to be turned into reality – within a tight budget.

The design concept for the training centre is contemporary, dynamic and professional. A lively and inviting space is achieved through the strategic choice and placement of colour. The colour scheme was based around their new branding colours of grey, white and green. The green was chosen as a particularly important branding element and has been used universally in all of their centres.

Resene Bilbao was selected as a vibrant and sharp green for the reception feature wall. Resene Zylone Sheen low sheen waterborne paint was used so that the white vinyl logo, could adhere well. This showcase green wall, is complemented with feature flooring in the reception area, by the use of Inzide Commercial Carpet tiles in a mix of greens, greys and yellow. The doors were picked out in Resene Lustacryl semi-gloss waterborne enamel tinted to Resene Gravel, a saturated charcoal grey, which helped to set off the green vinyl door signage perfectly. All of this is set against the general wall colour of Resene SpaceCote Low Sheen tinted to Resene Rice Cake and a pop of Resene Limeade on the glass splashback.

The client requested a ‘whiteboard’ in the boardroom, which was achieved using Resene Write-on Wall paint as a feature wall, over Resene Triple Delta.
