A colourful home in Hamurana

From the Resene Total Colour Awards gallery — 594E Hamurana Road, Rotorua

My clients love colour and weren’t afraid for me to use it. Situated on a lifestyle block in Hamurana, which is located on the green belt of Rotorua, the property has stunning views of Lake Tarawera.

The home has a lot of windows that capture both the views and the natural light.

Orange and neutral bedroom

The inspiration for the colour scheme chosen was autumn. The area where the property is located is surrounded with trees. Therefore the warm earthy tones of autumn resonate with the location of this property.

Resene Akaroa is the predominant wall colour throughout the home. It was chosen for its green base and neutrality. It also aids in keeping the home feeling spacious and light.

Resene Chelsea Gem features in the kitchen. This tone harmonised perfectly with both the beautiful Blackwood bench tops and the Resene Akaroa. It is also a great ‘food’ colour.

Resene Hot August was used in the master bedroom. The homeowners desired the use of a rich tone in their bedroom. The tone of Resene Hot August worked beautifully with the burnt orange and maroon colours of the Warwick Koeda silk fabric used for the drapery in this space.

Bright orange and neutral bedroom

Resene Ventura features in the two spare bedrooms. Resene Ventura has a lot of depth of colour. It worked perfectly with the dark olive tones of the flock Warwick Hanami fabric used for the drapery and blinds in these two spaces.

Resene Grey Olive was used in both bathrooms. This colour harmonised nicely with the overall colour palette chosen and the earthy tones of the tiling, island stone and textured concrete also present in these spaces.

The result is a home that the owners hate to leave!
