Genesis Power

Victoria Street, Hamilton

Genesis Power

Creative Spaces has recently completed a refurbishment of five floors of office space for Genesis Energy in Hamilton. The project brought a tired workplace up to date, improving its effectiveness, increasing amenities, and instilling a sense of corporate identity for the staff who were previously part of an outsourced organisation.

A neutral paint palette was implemented in the project to lighten the once dark and dated space. It complements Genesis Energy’s brand colours and lets the feature carpet speak for itself. Large scale wall and glazing graphics were used to communicate the company’s main stations and their community involvement.

Reception

Resene Cararra was applied in the general open plan area. This colour was light enough to ‘lift’ the space without being too cold, or harsh, in a highly occupied call centre environment. Resene Bison Hide is introduced on walls in the open plan that backed onto utility areas. This gave them a subtle difference while grounding the walls that stood by themselves. In most cases these walls were also high traffic areas so the darker shade helped conceal potential marking. Both colours were applied in a low-sheen acrylic. Resene Talisman was used on all the doors in hardwearing semi-gloss enamel. The darker brown not only tied in with the carpet but was able to disguise any dirt from their heavy use. The bathrooms continued to exercise the same palette of colours although they were applied in a semi-gloss enamel for ease of cleaning in a ‘wet’ area.

Reception / Meeting Room

Resene White was used for the colour backed glass on the new reception joinery unit.

The design solution rationalised the existing layout and combined the best elements of the existing fitout with targeted alterations intended to get the best ‘bang for buck’. The result is clean, flexible and efficient office space, which fully caters to the demands of Genesis Energy’s consolidated Hamilton workforce.
