Having long been the only Real Estate office in town, Harcourts Opotiki were very much outgrowing the prefab house they were working in, and so the franchise owners undertook to convert an adjacent old warehouse with a view to creating statement new office premises to really put Harcourts Opotiki on the map.
With the footprint of the warehouse larger than what they needed just for offices, the owner also wanted to provide a multi-purpose public space that locals could use as a gallery, yoga/pilates studio, board/conference room and more.
Keen to use local where possible, SJR Architectural had been engaged to prepare the initial drawings for the conversion of the warehouse into office space with new bathroom facilities, garaging and the multi-purpose space.
Bubble Interiors took care of the interior space planning, all finishes and furniture selections, and detailing of all the custom cabinetry, built-in banquette seating, and the stunning reception feature wall panelling for this amazing conversion.
The brief was for a modern, clean interior but with an industrial vibe to showcase and retain some of the features of the old warehouse. The reception needed to be a warm/welcoming space using plywood where possible.
The simple monochromatic paint colour palette of Resene SpaceCote Low Sheen in Resene Blackjack and Resene Double Alabaster was the perfect backdrop to the feature plywood timber panelling in reception.
The original concrete slab for the warehouse dropped nearly 300mm in height across the width of the building. There was substantial structural engineering involved in making sure the mezzanine was sound and that the new concrete floors were level.
