Marine Parade villa is a beautiful old two storey villa that was built around 1925 with a corrugated iron roof and is clad in weatherboard.
It sits proudly on the corner of a main road in Paraparaumu across the road from the beach. It has two outdoor areas, one with a pergola around the back of the house and the other with a covered veranda around the front of the house facing the water.
As part of the renovation, all the old doors and windows were removed and replaced with new double-glazed wooden doors and windows and in some areas, the weatherboards were also replaced.
The existing colour scheme was very dated. It had a dark green roof and window trims and the weatherboard and the eaves were a creamy yellow.
The clients had taken a photograph of another house they had seen that they really liked the colours of. These photos helped inform the colour choices. The home in the photos had a lighter colour roof than the barge board. The owners really liked Resene High Tide. Colour Studio contacted Resene to arrange a half strength of this colour to provide a contrast between the two areas which Resene custom made for them. The roof was painted in Resene Summit Roof and the barge boards in Resene Sonyx 101 semi-gloss waterborne enamel.
The owners had previously used and liked Resene Half Black White on another house, so that was selected for the windows, window trims and doors painted in Resene Enamacryl gloss waterborne paint. With a number of options to choose from, Resene Sonyx 101 semi-gloss waterborne paint in Resene Surrender was chosen for the weatherboards.
The colour palette has transformed this villa into a beachside beauty.
