The Parnell Project was a very large renovation on a residential home carried out over three levels.
The client wanted a dark masculine feeling for his home. The home has a lot of windows and light so Resene Half Masala was chosen for a calming effect on this large scale home. This colour worked very well with all the hard elements that were brought into the home, such as steel, wood and stone.
The colours created a balance with the rest of the interior design, when incorporating the Neolith from Spain, Blue stone and split face travertine – Mother Nature's natural products and textures. Minimalistic within the soft furnishing, wall features needed to be in character with the design of the home. The Resene Half Masala worked perfectly for the dark moody effect that flowed through the whole of the colour scheme in selected areas. Resene Quarter Ash was painted in the tiled entrance, bringing out the right amount of modern and setting the scene for its use as an art gallery space. Resene Quarter Ash also flowed through to the bedroom wall colours and some of the children's bathrooms. It complemented the split face travertine perfectly, for the lighter effect sought.
With the client's masculine choice of Interiors and feature lighting for his main lounge, the ceiling and walls needed to be dark, to feel like there was a continuity in the space. This colour was also moved into the dining and kitchen so the paint work would seamlessly disappear behind the feature lighting and stone, from room to room. Resene Armadillo was the perfect choice.
Deciding on the colour for the ceiling was a challenge as the ceiling being dark, and plenty of light flooding in, it needed to be perfect. Resene Half Masala was chosen.
Paint finished were carefully chosen for their ability to be durable, last lasting and look good after a long period of time. The waterborne interior paint has proven to be just this.
