A sea of daffodils greets guests to this home.
With such a bold burst of colour from nature, the design team knew they needed to complement the inside of the house to the landscape around it.
After eight month of planning and designing all rooms in the house, choosing materials, colours and appliances the project started to take shape.
Resene Wan White was chosen as the main kitchen and pantry colour to complement the rustic oak Prime Panel Art Oak veneer and the 6mm thick solid stainless steel benchtops. The colour scheme of the kitchen cutlery inserts was very important for the client. The clear design brief was to match it to the existing vibrant artwork in the open plan kitchen and living area. Plenty of fun was had matching up the colours with a Resene colour chart, before finally choosing Resene Moon Yellow, Resene Cranberry, Resene Tahiti Gold, Resene Danube, Resene Séance and Resene Aqua.
The bathroom drawer insert in the vibrant Resene Smashing reflects the sunrise and sunset and is designed as a morning energy booster, while Resene Aqua on the bedside table drawer enhances calmness in the evening.
The biggest challenge was to complement the 4.25m tall kitchen back wall in Resene Wan White with warm wooden tones to make the Resene Wan White appear as a strong colour but not overly dominating to avoid the risk of it being boring.
