Auckland
The lively colours used throughout reflect the Auckland Transport branding while also assisting with way-finding. Inspiration for the colour scheme not only came from the Auckland Transport branding colours but also from the Auckland Rail Network map graphic.
Completed in late 2014, Creative Spaces worked with Auckland Transport to create a vibrant new fit-out for their Customer Services, Parking Services, and HOP card teams.
After working on two recent projects with Auckland Transport, Creative Spaces have developed a reputation for delivering superior interior fit-outs, on time and within budget.
The teams were relocated from dark and uninspiring floors of the Beca building in Pitt St. Spread over two floors of 8 Nelson Street, linked by an internal staircase, the 2000 square metre fit-out is entirely open plan. The open office encompasses an appropriate mix of spaces, collaborative work areas, focus rooms, utility areas and colour coded meeting areas.
Spacious colourful and informal collaboration spaces were provided to attract staff away from their workstations and support them working together. The curved glass façade allows natural daylight to flood into the team spaces. Resene Optimist, Resene Captain Cook and Resene Wanaka, add pops of colour and interest to the feature timber privacy screen that wraps around the collaboration spaces on the two levels.
A generous café/floor hub located on Level 3 provides a bump space for occupants of both levels. Resene Blackboard Paint was used as a feature in the large and colourful Café.
The lively colours used throughout reflect the Auckland Transport branding while also assisting with way-finding. Inspiration for the colour scheme not only came from the Auckland Transport branding colours but also from the Auckland Rail Network map graphic. The reds from the Southern Line, the blues from the Onehunga Line and the greens from the Western Line.
The inspiration of the Auckland Rail Network translates into the design and use of colour in the meeting rooms through the use of vibrant reds, blues and greens on the doors, carpet, chairs, glazing graphics and feature pendants. Doors were made into features using a bold palette of Resene Smashing, Resene Tall Poppy, Resene Wimbledon and Resene Koru with general doors in Resene Half Foggy Grey, all set again general walls and columns in Resene Alabaster.
The colours chosen helped reinforce the branding identity of Auckland Transport and also provided a note of visual cohesion as you move through the space. The meeting rooms are centrally located and through the use of the Resene colours helped unify the two floors and add liveliness to this pivotal area that connects clients and staff.
The Auckland Rail graphic travels along the glazing of the meeting rooms in blues, greens and reds – making each room a destination. The destinations include Amsterdam, Tokyo, Seoul, Athens, Cairo, Budapest, Prague, Lisbon, Washington, Stockholm, Paris, London, Madrid, Vienna, Rome and Kingston. Resene Half Cloud helped give these meeting rooms a soft and warm backdrop.
The client and occupants agree that the move from Pitt Street to Nelson Street has been a positive and exciting move, with staff relishing their new environment.
