The Turangi library existed as a dull, underused facility. The Taupo District Council wanted to inject some vibrancy into the town and commissioned APR to upgrade the library to become a distinctive focal point modern facility. It is now easily identified by its unique curved glass façade with wonderful Maori artwork that tells the story of the locality.
The library now caters for a broader section of the community and has a toy library, a new appealing colourful children’s reading area that provides a special welcoming character. The colour range is large, supplying the interiors with warmth.
The friendly environment encourages old and young to stay and enjoy the opportunity to read.
Walls are made more vibrant with striking accents of Resene Wilderness, Resene Yuma and Resene Hot August.
