Katere Commercial Building

The Katere Commercial Building is of a substantial size, with three separate warehouses, a workshop and office lease options. It’s a new commercial building development on the northern approach to New Plymouth city constructed of precast tilt slab with powdercoated aluminium doors and windows. The frontage design concept is anchored with four solid precast tilt slab panel sections.

The colour concept was to create a colour scheme with a degree of edge. Anchor was the key word – achieved with Resene Foundry. The anchoring colour was also applied to the concrete tilt slab on the east/west walls, the concrete tilt slab feature walls on the frontage and three structural canopies over the entrance doors to create a stark contrast to the powdercoated aluminium.

Then the vibrant strong Resene Calypso was introduced, applied to the frontage corners of the concrete tilt slab. From the front it’s a subtle contrast when sitting side by side with the powdercoated horizontal rib, then it creates a dramatic statement when it turns the corner at either end to meet the other colour.

The building was finished in Resene Sonyx 101 CoolColour to minimise heat buildup versus traditional versions of the same colours.
