A communal media and billiard room in the upmarket Hereford Residences benefits from the warm, near-black wall tones of Zeus by Resene.
No single design stroke influences the look of a space more than its colour. For this communal media and billiard room in the refined inner-city Hereford Residences, developers Tawera Group and Josephine Design wanted a warm ambience and their choice of wall tone achieved that.
Hereford Residences are the result of a dramatic transformation from out-dated office building to luxury apartments. The project won the 2017 TIDA New Zealand Apartment Award and, as well as offering exceptional harbour views, includes an infinity pool, a gym, and roof-top deck.
Another shared facility for occupants is the modern media and billiard room. Josephine Love, director of Josephine Design, says they wanted the media room to have a warm, homely air.
"Essentially, this is a second lounge for apartment owners, where they can watch a family movie, play pool or simply hang out. To achieve a cosy feel we chose Resene's Zeus, a dark anthracite, for the walls."
This was specified in Resene SpaceCote, a flat waterborne enamel with a rich matte finish that brings out the depth in darker colours. This finish is also more durable and easier to clean than standard acrylics.
