Statement dressing

Decorating articles and inspiration from TrendsIdeas

Display apartments were once defined by safe cream colour palettes. As this project shows, designers today are exploring more adventurous options with Resene paints.

The wall in this Triptych display apartment is painted in Resene Indian Ink.

When an apartment building is designed to stand out from the crowd, it is only to be expected that the interior fit-out will be just as dramatic as the exterior facade.

Triptych, in Melbourne’s arts precinct has a number of significant features that create a key point of difference. As well as a lush vertical garden on the front of the podium, the facade incorporates the largest commissioned work of art on an Australian building.

The display apartment design, completed by Coco Republic Interior Design, complements the innovative architecture by Nettletontribe. Designer Victoria Chapman says the developers, RI Investment Trust and Stable Group, wanted a very smart, refined interior. But they also wanted to show how classical furnishings from an existing home could be integrated into a contemporary apartment design.

The master suite features accent walls painted in Resene Indian Ink, an extra-dark navy blue.

Karen Warman, Resene marketing manager, says Resene SpaceCote Low Sheen is well suited to interior broadwall areas.

“This is a low-odour, Environmental Choice-approved waterborne paint that provides a durable, washable finish. As a low-VOC paint, it was a particularly suitable choice for the Triptych apartment – it reinforces the sustainable design initiatives that are a key part of the building design.”

Warman says Resene’s The Range 2011/12 fandeck is now available. This is a collection of more than 170 popular shades that highlight current trends and new colour directions. It is teamed with The Range Whites & Neutrals fandeck.
