Wallpaper... but not as you know it

From Habitat magazine - issue 15

With its fresh palette of pinks and greens, anchored by a self-patterned wallpaper, this table setting is perfect for a brunch, high tea outdoor wedding or for an outdoor summer dinner party.

Created by Ingrid Pritchard of Scent Floral Boutique in central Wellington, instead of a tablecloth she has used Resene Walltrends 25061 wallpaper. Its large shimmery floral-style relief pattern is the perfect background for delicate egg-shell coloured plates, cut crystal vases and bowls, gorgeous floral napkins and floral posies.

Ingrid’s floral posies are made up of ranunculus, erlicheer jonquils, green cymbidium orchids, ruscus, jasmine and rosette succulents.

Says Ingrid: “These fresh greens and pinks are very much in fashion at the moment, as is the cut crystal. Together they give a romantic look that’s perfect for a spring or summer table.“

With so many wallpaper colours and patterns to choose from, using wallpaper as a table-cloth is a cost-effective way to easily change the look of the table or create a theme. As Ingrid points out this same wallpaper could be used as a central table runner on a black tablecloth with white flowers and black accessories for an elegant night-time look.
