Colour trends from NZ House and Garden magazine

A graphic mural transforms any space.

Adding individuality to a room is easier than you might think. Murals created in Resene paint using bold graphic patterns add a sense of depth – as perfectly illustrated by this two-tone masterpiece that riffs off timeless art deco shapes. While it looks complex, the technique is actually quite straightforward, with the help of a ruler and some masking tape. The design is highly adaptable and looks superb in a bedroom, reading nook, lounge, dining room or even a powder room. It can be scaled down for smaller spaces or even to create an artwork. Using a classic monochromatic scheme of charcoal and pale taupe allows the shapely design to be the hero but if your spirit seeks adventure, you could go all out and try a combination of stronger colours instead.
