Mellow moments

Colour trends from NZ House and Garden magazine

Sea-washed and subtle blues create soothing spaces. Cool, calm and collected...

Like many other trending colours, today’s blues are dusty in nature and skew towards grey or green – like a sky just before dusk, a favourite pair of denim jeans or the mutable ocean depths. This move toward desaturated shades is driven by the desire to return our homes to calming, restful spaces. These soothing Resene blues are not only easy on the eye but are easily adapted to all seasons – pair with blonde timbers and linen in summer and heavily textured woven throws and rugs in winter. Add interest with a sculpted wall in a panelled effect and the look becomes casual with a classic twist.
