Finding colour inspiration in unusual places. Kickstart a scheme...
A tried and true strategy to kickstart a scheme is to be inspired by the colours from a favourite fabric, cushion, rug or artwork. Rather than peer too closely, stand back to gain a general sense of the colours. For example, the two artworks in this room are quite different in scale and style but are united in use of ochres, warm browns, forest greens, peachy pinks and burgundy. Those colours are then used to create a slightly retro reading corner with a statement rattan chair as a centrepiece. The space is also a lesson in how unusual colour combinations, such as lilac and deep green, can work.
