Who would have thought that plummy red and dusky purple could be such a delicious match? These sorts of unexpected colour pairings create spaces that are vibrant and intriguing – the trick is to use colours with similar intensity so that one doesn’t overpower the other. In this room, a stencilled painted floor is used as a graphic counterpoint to the rich, moody colour on the walls and furnishings. It’s glamorous, a little retro and packed with personality.
