Due for a makeoverThe Trotter family built their home 13 years ago and although there was nothing wrong with the layout or functionality of their kitchen they felt it was long overdue for a makeover to bring it up to date and breathe some life back into it again. Deb loves colour and interiors and with her son just completing his joinery apprenticeship it seemed exactly the right time to call in some much overdue favours. They kept all the original internal structure of the kitchen, extended the breakfast bar and remodelled the overhead cupboards. It proved to be a really cost efficient project. Keeping the original internal cupboards, they sold the doors, handles, stove, dishwasher, benches and even the sink and tap on Trademe, an exercise which proved well worth doing, adding $700 to their redecorating fund. The new look kitchen is now finished with Resene Half Tea on walls, a splashback of Resene Pacifika and the woodwork and doors in Resene Bone. The vibrancy of the splashback contrasts really well with the colours chosen for the kitchen. They continued the same colours into the family room that flows from the kitchen. The neutral colours create a really calming and cool effect. And to finish the look, the entry way is painted in Resene Domino, a colour theme continued into the lounge and dining room feature walls complemented by Resene Sisal.
