Garden glory
The kitchen and living area of the Ellis-Pegler’s family house looks out over a fantastic lush garden of large trees of many different greens. When they bought the house, the whole area was painted an insipid shade of diluted custard powder yellow. That yellow against those beautiful trees – not good. Something had to go, and it sure wasn’t going to be the trees!
They chose Resene Merino for most of the area, which is a pretty off-white, with very subtle green undertones. The remaining wall is painted in Resene Malachite Green from the Karen Walker range. They love the way this lovely muted sage colour reflects the many different greens of the garden, and picks up on the faint green in the Resene Merino. The combination of the two colours Resene Merino and Resene Malachite Green creates a wonderfully restful atmosphere, and as the light changes during the day, the Resene Malachite Green intensifies to a gorgeous rich hue in the evening.
