DIY dream teamEverything in Mell and Mark’s house was original 60s, which made both very excited as they could put their own mark on it. Mell studied Interior Design when they lived in London and with Mark a great handyman they had a good headstart on their project. The carpet was the first thing to go to expose the beautiful matai flooring, then it was time to strip the many layers of wallpaper. Once they had their clean slate it was time for wall colour. They love colour so have gone rather bold in some areas of the house. In the hall they used Resene Mystic with Resene Lucky as a feature wall. Their favourite house colour of Resene Stonehenge features in the lounge, which has made it a relaxing room, especially when the sun is going down and peeks through the Waitakeres and streams into the room giving a lovely warm glow... bliss! Their bedroom is painted Resene Pale Slate that makes it very calm and cosy. Their baby’s room is painted Resene Sea Fog, a colour chosen when Mell was sure she was having a boy! The last room, a guest/dressing room, is painted Resene Pattens Blue, which works great with all the black and white in the room.
