B & BPeter and Kay had owned a section on the hill at beautiful Hahei on the Coromandel Peninsula for 16 years and finally they were ready to build. They kept it all in the family, with Peter's uncle designing the house and Kay's brother building it. Kay is a colour person and wanted to have beachy and earthy colours for their new Bed & Breakfast venture. The Loft looks out over the deck and bay so Kay chose Resene Silver Chalice (cool in summer, cosy with the curtains drawn for winter) with sail lightshades set in Resene Tornado combined with doors in Resene Half Silver Chalice. The Cove has a neutral backdrop of predominantly Resene Half Rice Paper to complement the deep red duvet and red and black curtains. The look is completed with three doors accented in soft yummy Resene Roman Coffee. The Pa suited a green to be in symmetry with the rural outlook and is now home to Resene Half Rice Paper with Resene Raptor as the feature walls and backs of the ensuite and main doors. The study needed to be soft, cosy and a place to be happy to work in and is finished in Resene Otter with a wall of Resene Rice Paper to contrast. The stairwell is brightened with a bright wall splash of Resene Lusty well lit by light streaming in through the glass roof. This dash of colour draws the eye into the open plan dining/lounge/kitchen area where the dining wall is also Resene Lusty.
