Gelato colours create a bedroom that promises the sweetest dreams.
A room filled with vintage-inspired floral motifs is bound to make any little girl smile. Here’s how to get the look at home.
Project: Floral headboard
Transform your child’s bed with a bit of petal power. This floral-inspired headboard is an easy one-day DIY job. To start, measure and mark the size and shape of the headboard on the wall with pencil, ours is 120cm wide x 150cm high. Then, outline the shape with masking tape. Paint inside the taped area with Resene SpaceCote low sheen paint, we used Resene Glamour Puss. You’ll need to do two coats for best coverage. When the paint is completely dry, carefully remove the masking tape. Now comes the fun part – painting the flowers. We created a cluster of blooms that fell across the top corner of the headboard, but this design decision is completely up to you. Whichever design you choose to go with, pencil the flowers in before you paint them (you can always remove the pencil lines with an eraser at the end).
Project: Table and stools
To upcycle a kids’ table and stool set, begin by lightly sanding all the surfaces. Wipe them down with a damp cloth, and then apply two coats of Resene Lustacryl paint – we chose the Resene Guggenheim for the table and Resene Glamour Puss and Resene Melting Moment for the stools. When they are completely dry, lightly pencil daisy designs on the seats and table top, and then paint.
