Colour to smile about

Lucy's house was very tired with both rot and borer. It was built in 1921 and seems to have only ever been white with either red or grey accents. Well not anymore! Lucy chose Resene Blanched Pink for the weatherboards and Resene Quarter Crisp Green for the accents. These colours are from the Karen Walker Paints palette, which has great combinations that really inspire.

Gardening is a great passion of Lucy's and now, when the garden is not in bloom the house sits amongst the greenery like one enormous blossom. The Resene Quarter Crisp Green on the windowsills gives the sense the garden is closer to the house. Indoor outdoor flow is difficult to achieve in a transitional bungalow without extensive renovation!

The painter Dominic Atsalis encouraged Lucy with her choices when she wavered towards something tamer. A quick peruse through the Heritage colour chart reveals green and pick is suitable for this era house.

Lucy would encourage anyone who is eating and sleeping Resene colour charts to go bravely into colour. Apart from knowing the house exterior is in good order, the colours make Lucy smile every time she gets home.
