Room by room

Angela and Scott moved into a 1997 house that hadn't really been touched since it was built. Getting to work themselves, they have slowly been working on one room at a time to update the place.

Scott (painter by trade, but now project manager for a commercial painting company) does all the painting himself. Angela gets to paint the occasional wardrobe. It's still a work in progress with the main bathroom being done at the moment. Next on the list is the main bathroom and ensuite. In the meantime, they have made a huge dent in the work that needs to be done.

The kitchen was first to be done with a brand-new kitchen installed and then walls painted in Resene Alabaster.

Next was their daughter's room. They chose Resene Unicorn for a feature wall with unicorn wall decals. The other walls are in Resene Alabaster.

Their son's room was next. He has been learning to snowboard, so they found some ideas on Pinterest for a mountain range design. With some help from the local Resene ColorShop Expert and lots of testpots later the wall has been turned into a mountain range. The main colour on the walls is Resene Quarter Surrender, and the mountains are painted in Resene Half Mako, Resene Double Silver Chalice and Resene Alabaster for the snow detail. Scott masked up the mountains and created the layers. They look fantastic!

The spare room has been kept simple with Resene Alabaster on all the walls.

Moving onto the main lounge and dining area, they liked the Resene Quarter Surrender from their son's room so decided to use a lighter version, Resene Eighth Surrender, on all the walls. The new blinds from Venluree are also based on Resene colours.

In-between all of this, the neighbours decided to clear a large tree and overgrown hedges in their backyard. To replace this Angela and Scott put a new fence up. It needed to disappear back into the garden, so they sprayed it Resene Black. Around the Spa pool area, they added some interest by using some of the leaves and plants in and around the garden to create some art on the fence.

Thanks to Angela and Scott.
