First wall of colour

Samantha first discovered the Resene colour choices while enjoying a cup of coffee and reading Your Home and Garden, while Sienna was napping. It was in the August issue where she saw the colour Resene Wax Flower and was inspired.

Samantha already had a plant pot in her home a similar colour and seeing it alive on the walls in the magazine gave her the confidence to venture away from the safety of white walls. This is their second home and the first wall to ever be painted anything other than a shade of white.

They had an excellent experience in the Resene ColorShop, taking in their plant pot to help colour match. They purchased two testpots – Resene Wax Flower and Resene Tuft Bush – which is a lighter shade to see which would work best. After testing on the wall, and seeing how the sun looked, Resene Tuft Bush was chosen. They love how it brings warmth into the white wall home.

Sienna is a beachy kid and has developed a love for plants and accompanying Samantha on trips to the op shops. Her room is a collection of new and old rattan treasures from Auckland and as far as Tauranga. Samantha loves the quality in second hand finds, knowing they have a story to tell and have lasted the test of time.

This home is a compact 100sqm home, a renovated 50s bach that is open plan. It uses every inch in living space, because the whole front of the house opens onto the deck through a large bifold door in the living room, and French doors in the bedrooms. Unfortunately, when you have no hallway and rooms are off the lounge, it is important to love everything you can see, so they knew they had to make the right colour choice.
