Mountains of fun

Sarah spent the bulk of the winter painting the interior of their new build while her husband worked overseas. After the boredom of painting ceiling after ceiling and trim after trim, Sarah was keen to create bright and colourful bedrooms for their children, fun spaces where they could hang out and enjoy the room.

A favourite part of the project was spending time creating a painted mural in her son’s room. Sarah loves the way it combines his personality and interests with the surrounding wilderness environment out the windows.

The added climbing wall made from Ply and bolted on has given hours of fun and can be removed once outgrown to reveal the complete mural underneath also. Sarah also duplicated the painted mountains in the garage before attaching the holds and bolting it to the bedroom wall. It took a fair amount of patience to line up the mountains running up the side of the 18mm ply after it was attached to the wall!

After many testpot samples, Sarah decided on Resene Solitude for the background and Resene Oxygen, Resene Smokescreen and Resene Astronaut for the mountains.

Needless to say the reaction of Mister 6 when he saw his new room was priceless!
