Miranda’s circa 1890s villa survived the earthquakes dancing like a ship in a stormy sea, but came through a little worse for wear. This called for repairs and the daunting but exciting task of choosing colours for the whole interior.
Miranda is an abstract painter and she uses Resene colours in her artworks as well so thought she would have a head start on choosing the interior colours... but it was a real challenge!
She narrowed it down to a green-and-neutral palette, with a different colour in each room, reflecting the character of the rooms and harmonising with the native timber of the floors and doors. The lounge is painted in Resene Amulet, the master bedroom in Resene Linen, the bathroom in Resene Half Robin Egg Blue from the Karen Walker Paints collection, her daughter’s bedroom in Resene Apple Green and the kitchen and all ceilings in Resene Black White.
The home is full of artworks, which sit beautifully on both the white and coloured walls. Miranda’s artworks have many Resene colours, with Resene Blackcurrant and Resene Mint Tulip special favourites!
The house has always been full of beautiful people who bring their own colourful personalities. Its age means the rooms are generous in size, and quite sound-proof, so all can live harmoniously in this inspiring environment!
Miranda loves the freshness and softness of the Resene green palette, which is alive yet understated and lets the artworks sing out.
