The Browns run the Browns Boutique Bed and Breakfast in Whanganui.
As a new bed and breakfast it needed new colours inside and out. They have always used Resene paint in any of their renovations. They particularly love to use the freshness of Resene Quarter Pearl Lusta on their joinery and ceilings alongside colour as it gives the kick of white without the emptiness of white.
Their colour selection focused on exploring unusual colours that work well with a heritage home but at the same time suit a home in the 21st century. They frequently get asked what the colours are and the response is usually “I would never have thought of using that colour”.
The interior colour palette explores a range of colour hues. The entrance hallway has Resene Bittersweet walls with joinery in Resene Quarter Pearl Lusta, a trim colour that continues throughout the home. The kitchen has Resene Double Parchment walls with cabinetry in Resene Ironsand. A lighter version of this wall colour, Resene Parchment, is used in the sunroom and The Watercolour Room. The River Room is Resene Smoky Green from the Karen Walker Paints collection.
The outside is in neutral tones with weatherboards in Resene Half Ash, window and veranda railings in Resene White, trim and joinery in Resene Quarter Pearl Lusta and the door and concrete of the veranda in Resene Armadillo.
