Tash and her partner, in the craze of the housing boom and property price surge, decided to build their first home.
They found an ideal slice of land in a new subdivision, in Tauranga, which suited their typical kiwi-home dream perfectly as we envisioned their little dog and baby-on-board enjoying many summers in the backyard, carefully watched from the open plan living, kitchen/dining space and slider kitchen window.
They found a building company to build the home, which came with many split and also, lengthy thought out decisions... Most importantly - what colour to paint? They always liked the neutral tones of grey accompanied with white for a fresh, clean and modern interior look. They settled on Resene Double Concrete for the interior, after many swatches and Testpots had been held against the wooden framework that was our home.
While Tash and her partner were excited to have a brand new home, fitted with trending kitchen tapware and features, new appliances and spongey untouched carpet, they knew the house was lacking a little bit of their personality. They decided one night, to go out on a limb, and add a feature painted wall to greet them in the entrance. The first and only colour they found, that could properly fit this strong and bold expectation was Resene Zeal. It was bright but not circus tent bright, with enough burst to make a bit of a statement. They hoped they weren't making the wrong decision, the painter was even a little apprehensive as he cut in with paintbrush onto the crisp white undercoated wall. Luckily as soon as they saw it, they fell in love with it. It was just what the beautiful home needed; a quirky piece of both Tash and her partner, stood right in their face as they entered the home.
Each little design choice, all down to the choice of paint colour was a reflection of their personalities. Tash and her partner are not only happy with the statement feature wall, but as the seasons have changed and the sunlight reflects across the walls of each room, they enjoy how the Resene Double Concrete walls depict and throw different shades of grey. Friends find it hard to believe that most of the house is painted all one colour.
Thanks to Tash.
