Cosy to the coast

Samuel and Miranda bought a 1920s bungalow one street back from the beach. Despite its run down condition, it had a ‘good feel’, due to the wide central hallway leading to every room.

With Samuel being a builder both were excited at the prospect of transforming it into a modern beach bungalow. A couple of months later they embarked on the lengthy process of renovating after hours. And a year and a bit after that it was time to paint.

They had had plenty of time to consider their décor, and after many testpots chose Resene Albescent White for all the walls providing a subtle contrast to the white kitchen and bathroom ware, while giving warmth to the hall and bedrooms. To highlight the tongue and groove ceilings and louvre wardrobe doors they used Resene Half Albescent White.

A chest of drawers was restored using Resene Quarter Albescent White and a coffee table in high gloss Resene Truffle.

The neutral palette enhances the natural materials of the oak floors, travertine tiles, plywood vanities and the linen drapes.

Now their attention has turned to the outside painting exterior weatherboards using Resene Quarter Titania with Resene Titania trim.
