Double time

Danielle and Andrew have dreamt for many years of building their own home. With Andy being a builder they thought that if they just continued renovating and selling maybe one day they might be able to make it happen and eventually, three renovations and two children later, they did it!

They were lucky enough to be able to live in Danielle’s parents’ home while they built. One year later they were done. Andy was building for others during the day and working on his own home every other spare minute of the day. The rest of the family didn’t see much of him during that time and it was so hard during the winter but it was all worth it.

Danielle’s dad is an architect so he was able to design the home exactly the way they wanted it. Danielle and Andrew really wanted a traditional almost villa/bungalow looking house with gables and facings on the windows but with a contemporary clean look on the inside. They really set out to prove that they could bring a bit of the city style to the country.

They painted the house in Resene colours and used quite a few colours more than once throughout the house.

On turning 6, their son requested a ‘big boy's room’ in black and white. The first step was to paint his blue drawers black, which was achieved with Resene primer and a high gloss black finish. Once the drawers were done they decorated the rest of the room around them. Resene Quarter Powder Blue was applied to one wall before sticking on the little black grizzly bear stickers.

Their daughter’s room has been done in Resene Powder Blue and Resene Blanched Pink, including the drawers in Resene Blanched Pink.

There are many other Resene colours in other areas of this home, and it’s expected that more will follow in the future.
