Swami’s beloved home is a 1930s stucco square retro that was screaming for some life-force to be breathed into her. They live in an environment surrounded by park and trees so it was extremely important to them to pick colours out of nature.
As a teacher and Celebrant Swami leads Yoga and Meditation retreats to India annually. The square, brightly coloured and unconventional colour combinations of the homes there have always been inspiring. As Swami works from home in the eastern Art of Yoga & Meditation, she is also aware of the vibrant and positive influences of colour and especially the blessings that red brings. The iconic pink retro stucco house that was on Tamaki Drive when she was growing up has always been an influencing factor on the retro classic home.
The sea is nearby and Pohutukawa trees are coastal and thrive in the seaside environment. They had a vision for their family also to thrive in their home. It seemed obvious to go with the flower colour of the Pohutukawa as the main body of their home, their children were the fruits she sheltered, the leaves the colours of the window frames and steps reflecting both sides of the trees leaves, supported and protecting this family from the world. Joining the Resene Pohutukawa is Resene Karaka and Resene Cliffhanger for the steps and window frames.
