In love with colour

Jackie tells us their love affair with Resene paints began with the renovation of a 1935 bungalow. After living in the house and slowly doing up the bedrooms and outdoor areas they finally tackled the kitchen.

This was the biggest part of the renovation as it involved demolishing an internal chimney and gutting the entire kitchen/laundry areas. This was their ‘statement’ room and the area they were spending the biggest part of their budget on; so they needed a statement colour. Jackie knew she wanted a shade of green, a colour she always finds calming and peaceful and a colour she is always drawn towards. Experimenting with many various shades of green, they finally decided on Resene Poprock.

After painting all the walls before the kitchen was installed, they stood back and wondered if it was a bit ‘too much’. However, with the subsequent sanding of the wooden floors and the installation of the cabinetry, splashback and accessories, it is everything they had hoped for and more. Jackie says "I love my kitchen and to say that I spend most of my time in it is an understatement!"

Next on the list was the exterior, and being an old bungalow style home they wanted to use classic colours. After much deliberation and patience from the local Resene staff, they finally decided on Resene Sisal for the weatherboards, Resene Bianca on the window frames, Resene Lemon Grass on the window surrounds, Resene Blue Charcoal to highlight certain parts of the house and red as a ‘wow’ for their front door. They have had so many comments on the colours and have since lent out their half used paint pot of red to various family and friends who have used it to paint their front doors too!
