Dark is right

After a kitchen cupboard door went flying past Victoria’s husband one chaotic ‘witching hour’, he finally got the erratic hint. The crumbling 1980s prison peach kitchen had done its time and after four years Victoria had done hers.

The kitchen shares the same split level as the dining, so all colours had to work together to create an atmosphere to cook and dine in.

They love white but their house wouldn’t work with the safe stark white look, so to do something unique they chose the black stone bench, tapware, sink and black handles for a contrast on the high gloss cabinetry.

They went with Resene Double Stack for their walls to add warmth and depth to the bright sunlit room. The ceiling and trims are Resene Black White to tone in the black features and add a striking contrast with the new walnut coloured oak floor. Resene Black White is also throughout the house so now everything ties together.

They are very proud of their kitchen. They had been told that Resene Double Stack was a risk but they stuck to their vision. Friends and family are amazed at the transformation and love the colours. "Witching hour" is calmer and meals even better.
