Providing the popMaggie's transitional villa is painted throughout in Resene paints, which she chooses because they make her artwork 'pop' so much more than others. At the time of the renovation she was living in Wellington. As the home was in Auckland, the colours were by guesswork. She ended up cutting out the colours from the colour sheets and pasting them onto paper to see if (a) the colours worked together and (b) the flow worked okay. She took a gamble on the guest bedroom and used Resene Tax Break which is a vibrant prussian blue, but she wanted one vivid colour in her house. The Resene Mantle colour in the sitting room and dining room was half strength as these rooms are very dark and Maggie was worried about them looking gloomy - she's thrilled with the result. Maggie used Resene Double Spanish White for the kitchen/office because she wanted something neutral that would still contrast with the white woodwork. The back of the kitchen splashback is painted in Resene Mantle to tie in with other rooms. The bathroom is in Resene Pewter for a faded decadence ambience for this room. The master bedroom is painted in Resene Quarter Lemon Grass for a springtime look. Maggie loves the colours - they're dreamy without being loud and are a total 'fit' with the period of the house.
