Crying out for colour

Designed around an 8 metre internal atrium, complete with tree, the Yearsley family walked in and went "WOW". They love the curved walls and the split levels making it open plan but still intimate.

With a neutral cream throughout, the house was crying out for colour. The blues in the lounge were pulled from the stripe rug in the dining area. The curve behind the TV was painted Resene Awash and the adjacent curve from the atrium, Resene Marathon. The claret red 50s lounge chairs sit beautifully against the blue.

The office was cold and uninviting, only getting morning sun. It needed warming up with Resene Smitten, a bold, warm fuchsia pink that brings a smile every time when you enter the room.

The kitchen/breakfast nook is a sun filled busy part of the home sporting a black granite bench and laminated white cupboards. Keeping this classic colour scheme, the walls are crisp white with Resene Double Alabaster paired with bold colourful wallpaper.

Again inspired by the dining room rug, this wall is painted rich and warm Resene Roasted Orange from the Karen Walker Paints collection, the perfect backdrop for their bike art and John Crawford vases.
