Achieving grand plans

When the Campbells bought their 1938 art deco home the layout was quirky, the kitchen was dark and tiny and the bathroom just awful. They visited an architect and had their grand plans drawn up. When the cost for the renovations came back ridiculously over their budget their plans were put on the backburner. Fortunately by word of mouth they found themselves a great builder who completed the renovations for them.

For their new kitchen with its dark grey cabinetry and its funky tomato red sofa tiles they chose Resene Island Spice for the walls.

For their daughter’s bedroom the light but warm Resene Oasis was selected. They also decided to stick with Resene Oasis for their new bathroom, toilet and laundry. All ceilings were done in Resene White.

A couple of years later, they had their old shed converted into a studio. As this is a room for creativity they went with Resene Sail with one wall finished in Resene Magnetic Magic then Resene Blackboard Paint for an interactive wall.

The exterior of their home was also in dire need of a makeover. They decided on Resene Mischka for the walls, Resene Gun Powder for the trims and to make it pop, Resene Shiraz for the window frames and doors. For the roof they chose Resene Gumboot.

So six years and two children down the track they’re just about living in a finished home. Just about as now they’re thinking that the main bedroom could do with a fresh coat of paint – maybe Resene Peppermint?
