Their breath was taken away as they saw the magnificent new living space develop.

The 1970s kitchen in the Palmer’s bungalow was tired and the ‘cosy’ dining room was dark and cramped, and why, oh why, was the laundry the place that captured all the morning sun? The original plan was just to knock a couple of walls down and install a new DIY kitchen. They had been impressed by the work done on the interior design of their workplace by architect Campbell Garratt. When they heard he was branching out on his own, the Palmers invited him over to give some advice.

It immediately became clear that with Campbell’s guidance they could change the kitchen, dining room and laundry into a space that would not only transform their home but their whole living experience.

The area was gutted, rotting floors were replaced with matching secondhand Rimu boards sourced from Auckland, walls were relined, ceilings replaced, lighting upgraded and a custom made kitchen installed.

Their breath was taken away as they saw the magnificent new living space develop. Nothing however gave them greater joy than seeing their brave and bold choice (with reassurance from Campbell) of Resene Bullseye on the feature wall and kitchen splashback. This sumptuous colour combined with Resene Whiteout on the trimmings and Resene Quarter Black White on the walls, turned the whole project from "very nice" to "absolutely magnificent".
