Catherine and Kelvin Hill believe preparation is the key to any successful decorating project so they spent most of their time preparing the walls to make sure they were perfect before starting on the painting. The original 6mm paperfaced plasterboard could not be replaced so they had to delicately strip it back to bare without damaging the surface. And to top it all off, all rooms had asbestos ceilings that required complete removal as part of the refurbishment.
Allowing a month to complete each room, they totally stripped the walls
back to bare paperfaced plasterboard and all the skirting boards, architraves
and window surrounds back to Rimu. Once they were back to a sound surface
they replastered the walls and then painted the ceiling and walls.
The lounge was the first room to be completed in a colour scheme of Resene Half Bourbon and Resene Half Whiskey Sour and was quickly followed by the dining room and entranceway in Resene Equator, hallway in Resene Tussock and a bedroom in Resene Pavlova.
