Dining table makeover

Is your dining table tasteless and dull? Add a coat of high gloss black for an instant injection of tabletop glam.

You will need

• Sandpaper of varying grades (100-220)
• Paintbrushes and mini roller
• Soft cloth
• 500ml Resene Waterborne Smooth Surface Sealer
• 1 litre Resene Waterborne Enamacryl Gloss Enamel

Step-by-step instructions

Step one:  Sand the entire paintable surface using a light-grade sandpaper, making sure your movements follow the same direction as the wood grain. Once sanding is complete, wipe down all surfaces with a soft, damp, well wrung out cloth. Allow to dry.

Step two:  Paint the entire surface with a coat of Resene Waterborne Smooth Surface Sealer. This provides a grip on smooth surfaces, readying them for topcoating with your favourite Resene topcoat.

Step three:  Using a mini roller for a super-smooth finish, topcoat all surfaces with Resene Enamacryl waterborne gloss enamel in a shade of your choice. For maximum drama, we chose Resene Blackjack from the Resene Whites & Neutrals collection.
