Outdoor drinks table
Transform an old wooden planter box into a stylish outdoor drinks table with a little bit of help from Resene.
Ways with wood with Mark Rayner - Project 62
Difficulty level: Moderate
- Garden hose with clean running water
- Garden sprayer
- Old wooden planter box (ours was part bare wood, and partly previously stained)
- Paint stirrer
- Piece of clear acrylic cut to fit over the planter box
- Resene Lumbersider tinted to Resene Kandinsky
To get the look: Mark painted the background house wall with Resene Lumbersider tinted to Resene Aqua.
Other ideas: For a crisp white effect paint the planter box with a subtle combination of Resene Quarter Alabaster and Resene Double Alabaster.
How to make an outdoor table
Mix one part Resene Moss & Mould Killer to five parts clean water in the garden sprayer. Saturate the planter box with the solution. Leave for 48 hours.
Mix one part Resene Timber and Deck Wash to three parts clean water. Wearing rubber gloves, scrub the solution into the planter box and then rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow to dry.
Carefully stir the Resene Wood Primer.
Apply one coat of Resene Wood Primer to the planter box and allow to dry.
Carefully stir the Resene Lumbersider tinted to Resene Kandinsky.
Apply two coats of Resene Lumbersider tinted to Resene Kandinsky to the outside of the planter box, allowing two hours for each coat to dry.
Carefully stir the Resene Lumbersider tinted to Resene Nourish.
Apply two coats of Resene Lumbersider tinted to Resene Nourish to the inside and top edge of the planter box, allowing two hours for each coat to dry. Place the piece of clear acrylic on top to form the table top.
