Go bold and brighten up an old garden chair using a fabulous Resene orange.

Ways with wood with Mark Rayner - Project 60

Difficulty level: Moderate

You will need:

  • Clean cloth
  • Garden chair
  • Mineral turps for cleaning brushes
  • Paint stirrer
  • Paintbrushes
 

To get the look:  Mark painted the background corrugated iron fence with Resene Enamacryl tinted to Resene Sponge.

Other ideas:  For a vibrant red effect paint the chair with Resene Chaos.

Step 1 Step one
Sand any areas of rust from the metal frame and then wipe off any sanding residue with a clean cloth.
Step 2 Step two
Carefully stir the Resene GP Metal Primer.
Step 3 Step three
Apply one coat of Resene GP Metal Primer to the metal frame and allow to dry. Clean brush with mineral turps.
Step 4 Step four
Carefully stir the Resene Wood Primer.
Step 5 Step five
Apply one coat of Resene Wood Primer to the wooden slats and allow to dry. Clean brush with mineral turps.
Step 6 Step six
Carefully stir the Resene Super Gloss tinted to Resene Adrenalin.
Step 7 Step seven
Apply one coat of Resene Super Gloss tinted to Resene Adrenalin to the chair and allow to dry.
Step 8 Step eight
Apply a second coat of Resene Super Gloss tinted to Resene Adrenalin to the chair and allow to dry. Clean brush with mineral turps. Or, for a waterborne finish, replace Resene Super Gloss with Resene Enamacryl.
