It’s easy to revamp an old wooden work bench with a little bit of help from Resene.

Revamp an outside workbench

Ways with wood with Mark Rayner - Project 58

Difficulty level: Moderate

You will need:

  • Decking nails
  • Hammer
  • Old wooden work bench
  • Paint stirrer
  • Paintbrushes

To get the look: Mark painted the watering can with Resene Lumbersider tinted to Resene Spritzer.

Other ideas: For a rich brown effect paint the bench with Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Brown Pod.

Step 1 Step one
Clean the work bench thoroughly and fix any loose pieces of wood with decking nails.
Step 2 Step two
Carefully stir the Resene Wood Primer.
Step 3 Step three
Turn the bench upside down and apply one coat of Resene Wood Primer to the underside.
Step 4 Step four
Turn the bench the right way up and apply one coat of Resene Wood Primer to the top, sides and legs and then allow to dry. Clean brush in turps.
Step 5 Step five
Carefully stir the Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Green House.
Step 6 Step six
Turn the bench upside down and apply one coat of Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Green House to the underside.
Step 7 Step seven
Turn the bench the right way up and apply one coat of Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Green House to the top, sides and legs. Allow two hours to dry.
Step 8 Step eight
Apply a second coat of Resene Lustacryl tinted to Resene Green House to the bench and allow two hours to dry.
