Mural theme:
Whenua.
Background to mural creation:
This mural was created for a school project, inspired by the Maori concept of Whenua – connection to the land. Every square tells a story beginning in a world of disconnect to the concept of Whenua – a world we live in today. Issues stemming from climate change are depicted in the first row of squares. In the second row of squares, different forms of change are illustrated. In the last three squares, a vision of hope is depicted – through the concept of Whenua, the fight for climate justice is successful. The hope is for this mural to inspire others to take action towards this important issue and to remind the viewer there is still hope.
