Location:
Winchester Rural School, on State Highway 1, South Canterbury.
Team:
Robin Stock.
Accessible to public:
Yes.
Mural theme:
Winchester's windows on the world.
Background to mural creation:
To join with school studies on children of the world and to open
children's minds to the beauty of New Zealand within the world
as a whole. The idea was inspired by the teachers' plans to discover
how children live in different countries of the world and to research
this topic in class. On a personal level, Robin wanted the children
to wake up every morning and think how lucky they are to live
in such an awesome place but remember there is a big, beautiful
world out there and not to be too afraid to explore it or learn
about it. Robin created the mural as a gift to the school in time
off from his normal day-to-day job.
