Background to mural creation:
The front fence/entrance to the kindergarten was dull and uninteresting. We wanted to make it bright and colourful, and relevant to the children and families coming to kindy, to give a 'taste of home' to Pasifika families, and to acknowledge Muaupoko as tangata whenua, and local mountains, lake, bush and birds. The children of all cultures paddle the waka together, and dance in their traditional costumes.
