Background to mural creation:
School mum, Stacey Yates, came up with the mural idea. Matipo means tree in Maori. For the school the aim was to use all of the children’s handprints to make the leaves of the tree bringing together the school and its meaning. Over 500 children’s handprints, one from each child at the school, are included.
