This lime-green bathroom is the first winner in the monthly Resene Colour Home of the Year competition. Sarah and Michael Marks from Meadowbank, Auckland won $500 in Resene paint vouchers.
A green feature wall in Resene Lima that adds oomph to a crisp black and white scheme was Sarah Marks' colourful solution to the original pink bathroom in her family's home. When Sarah and Michael Marks bought the ex-State house three years ago they ripped up the mouldy white shagpile carpet in the bathroom, replacing it temporarily with a vinyl floor, until they were ready to redecorate.
Sarah always envisaged a lime-green wall - "I can't live without colour" - but it took several test pots for her to settle on Resene Lima. She painted large sample cards and mounted them on the wall to see how the changing light affected the depth of colour. "I couldn't believe how much difference the light makes. I'm really pleased with the result". Sarah says the $500 vouchers she won will come in handy. "It's fabulous because with paint, you get instant results".
